Well, it all sounds good but what does it mean in real terms we hear you say? We have been asked this question many, many times so realistically, how much could energy saving commerical lighting reduce your fuel costs?
If you have a 400w fitting which has a total load (including control gear) of 455w, our new T5 fittings not only produce a brighter fresher light but are also use 50% less energy at 230w. Now that’s a good start but with the additional investment of integral presence detectors (up to 16mts in height) to ensure that your lights are only on when required you can make even more savings. It is widely known that warehouse occupancy levels in racking isles are rarely higher than 30-45% and your lighting will then be switched off when they are vacant which adds additional savings to your investment. Also, with less energy being used your CCL (Climate Change Levy), that is applied to all electricity bills, will also be reduced.
While the savings are considerable (up to 70%), you may find, in real terms, that your investment is not that significant as you may be entitled to a 0% loan (subject to application) from The Carbon Trust and your costs are 100% tax deductable in first financial year. All in all, it is quite clear that substantial savings, an improved working enviroment and reduced carbon footprint are all easily acheivable by using DGI Lighting Solutions.
